A straight endotracheal connection.

چکیده
THE connection illustrated (fig. 1) has been found useful when administering anaesthetics in the following circumstances : FIG. 2 It is probable that the idea of a similar connection has occurred to others. No mention of one, however, could be found in the literature nor did the anaesthetic instrument firms know of one. The screw Fio. 1 Cranial Angiography. Here (fig. 2) it is essential that the endo-tracheal tube and connection do not interfere with radiography in the lateral or in the antero-posterior positions. The tube must also not encroach on the sterile area on the neck where the radiologist is inserting his needle into the carotid artery. In Operations on the Posterior Cranial Fossa. Here the patient is in the prone position, with extreme flexion of the head. The benefit of the straight connection in this position is shown in figure 3. " D 201 FIG. 3 thread (fig. 1) is an advance on the usual corrugations found on endotracheal connections. The tube is gripped more securely, and insertion of the connection is facilitated. The flat plate is provided for fixation.

Selective placement of bronchial suction catheters in intubated neonates.
Flexible suction catheters were passed through the endotracheal tubes of infants undergoing mechanical ventilation, just before chest radiographic examination for clinical purposes. With the head straight, 7 of 10 straight catheters entered the right main bronchus but with the head turned, 17 of 20 straight catheters and 19 of 20 curved tip catheters entered the contralateral bronchus.
متن کاملBedside prediction of airway length in adults and children.
BACKGROUND Malpositioning of the endotracheal tube within the airway leads to serious complications such as endobronchial intubation. Prediction of the correct depth of an endotracheal tube is important and should be individualized. The manubriosternal joint (MSJ) is on the same horizontal plane with the tracheal carina. We compared the straight length from the upper incisor to the MSJ in the f...
متن کاملPrevention of dental damage and improvement of difficult intubation using a paraglossal technique with a straight Miller blade.
Patients with diseased teeth, or those who are difficult to intubate, have a higher risk of dental injury during laryngoscopy. We report 3 cases of smooth endotracheal intubation using a paraglossal technique with a straight Miller blade in patients with poor dentition. Three patients with poor dentition were scheduled to undergo surgery under general anesthesia. All patients presented with ext...
متن کاملBrief report: tracheal intubation using the Bonfils intubation fibrescope or direct laryngoscopy for patients with a simulated difficult airway.
BACKGROUND The Bonfils intubation fibrescope (BIF), a rigid, straight and reusable fibreoptic device, is being used increasingly to facilitate endotracheal intubation after direct laryngoscopy has failed. We tested the hypothesis that, with the BIF compared to direct laryngoscopy, the rate of failed endotracheal intubation could be reduced in patients with a difficult airway, simulated by means...
متن کاملNew Visible Endotracheal Intubation Method Using the Endoscope System for Mice Inhalational Anesthesia
Appropriate and effective anesthesia is critical, because it has a strong influence on laboratory animals, and its affect greatly impacts the experimental data. Inhalational anesthesia by endotracheal intubation is currently prevailing in general anesthesia and is prefered over injection anesthesia, especially for large laboratory animals, because it is a safe and easy control agent. However, i...
